The European Football Clubs (EFC) group sent a letter to FIFA secretary general Mattias Grafström indicating that cooperation with future Club World Cups would depend on Gianni Infantino withdrawing the FIFA Forward Enterprise scheme. The letter stated this position would hold unless an already-agreed joint venture framework between EFC and FIFA is finalised before television rights for the 2028 Women's Club World Cup can be sold. The plan was scrapped shortly after the ultimatum was issued.
